Who we are
Outreach Programs at Christ Church
goes to the core of what Christ Church is about -- in terms of
our time, talents and money. Through our outreach arm, the Board of World Fellowship,
Christ Church provides financial support to a large number of worthy
national, and international organizations, projects, and emergency
In addition, there are many opportunities for members of the Christ Church family
to get directly involved in outreach efforts through the church.

- Centurion Ministries,
Princeton, NJ: Aids efforts to vindicate and free from prison those who
are completely innocent of
the crimes for which they have been unjustly convicted and imprisoned
for life or death. Also assists clients, once they are freed,
with reintegration into society on a self-reliant basis..
- Community Food Bank, Hillside,
NJ: Distributes unsalable (but edible!) food products to emergency food
pantries, homeless shelters, soup kitchens child and elder care

residents in Summit and surrounding communities.

science high school for inner-city minority youth.
- Community Pre-School at St. John's , Summit, NJ: Provides quality
preschool program to

Center of NJ, Orange, NJ: New Jersey's oldest and largest vocational and job
training agency, using an entrepreneurial approach to help secure
employment for 2,100 residents each year.

School, Hoboken, NJ: Educates, stimulates and broadens the

setting, with an intentional mission to the urban poor.

- Sing Sing MPS, Ossining, NY: For more than 20 years, NYTS has
offered a Masters of Professional Studies degree in Ministry to inmates
at the Sing Sing Correctional Facility.
Theological Seminary, Princeton, NJ: Prepares men and women to
serve Jesus Christ in ministries marked by
faith, integrity, scholarship, competence, compassion, and joy,
them for leadership worldwide in congregations and the larger church,
classrooms and the academy, and in the public arena.
Acorn, Morris Plains, NJ: Provides preschool tuition for 3 and
4 year olders whose families have a commitment to education and who
need financial assistance to obtain a quality preschool education.
Centers, Inc., Newark NJ: Providing education, literacy training,
and wellness activities, and housing assistance to at-risk children and

critical engagement with the traditions of the Christian Church in the

Friends Service Committee, Immigrant Rights Program, Newark,
NJ: Provides information and access to legal services to immigrants.
- Bridges Outreach,
Summit, NJ: Founded by Christ Church congregants Geoff and Ginger
Worden in 1988, provides weekly meals to the homeless population in
Newark and New York. The "Friday Night Run" from Christ Church has
become an institution for area youth.
- Family Promise
(formerly National Interfaith Hospitality Network), Summit, NJ: Assists
religious and community organizations nationwide in developing and
operating network programs that provide shelter, meals, and assistance
for homeless persons, and that increase community involvement in direct
service and advocacy.
- The Interfaith Council for
the Homeless of Union County, Plainfield, NJ : Provides temporary
living accommodations for the area's homeless families, on a rotational
basis with other area churches. Begun in 1986 by Summit resident Karen
Olson, the first network involved nine churches, including Christ
Church, and one synagogue. The program has now grown nationwide, has
assisted over 60,000 homeless family members.
Morristown, NJ: Provides services, information and advocacy to the
people of Nicaragua, El Salvador and Guatamala.
