The Learning Circle
Christian Education for Elementary School Kids
Sunday School

Our Christian Education Program, coordinated by Associate Minister Rev Julie Yarborough, offers Sunday School classes for kids in kindergarten through fifth grade. The program is currently enjoying a great deal of success and attendance is high.

(Middle school and high school youth participate in our Youth Ministry program.)

   Naming Contest
We held a contest to find a name for our Sunday School program.
And the winner is . . . "The Learning Circle"
We're still looking for a suitable logo, though, so keep your thinking caps on!

The Workshop Rotation Model is a new curriculum format that we adopted two years ago for our children in kindergarten through fifth grade. Each five or six week period, we focus on a different Bible Story and use different mediums to learn about the text.

One of our lessons was The Feeding of the Multitudes. The children learned about Jesus feeding the multitudes with five loaves of bread and two fish. They learned that Jesus wants us to share what we have with others so that everyone will have enough to eat. The children raised money for the Heifer Project International by making cookies and pretzels to sell during coffee hour. All proceeds were sent to start an aquaculture project for a needy family somewhere in the world. (Click here to see the lesson plans.)

The story of The Feeding of the Multitudes can be found in Matthew 14:13-21

We encourage parents to read along with their kids and discuss what they are learning each week. By the end of each rotation, we hope that the kids will know the story well enough to tell it themselves!   [ ]
