At Christ Church, we turn faith into action. Over the years, we’ve helped launch and sustain nonprofits that now serve thousands — from hunger relief and affordable housing to education and refugee support. Born as callings within our community, these ministries have grown beyond our walls.
Family Promise began in Union County, NJ in 1986, when founder Karen Olson turned compassion into action to address family homelessness. Christ Church was the first church to host families in need of shelter. Ever since, our congregation has remained a committed partner—offering volunteers, funding, and friendship as Family Promise has grown from a local ministry into a nationwide movement.

Bridges was founded over 40 years ago by Christ Church members, Geoff and Ginger Worden, who sought to build relationships with people experiencing homelessness. What began as sandwich-making gatherings in our kitchen has grown into an award-winning organization that provides outreach, housing, and advocacy across New Jersey and New York. Christ Church continues to volunteer, fund, and partner with Bridges in service and solidarity.

Good Grief was born in 2004, and found its first home at Christ Church, where our members offered space, support, and connections to help nurture a small peer-support program for grieving children and families. Today it has grown into a statewide leader providing free grief counseling and education. Our congregation remains closely involved, volunteering and partnering with Good Grief as it continues to bring healing through hope and community.
